Legacy Café Series,
Los Angeles, California
Legacy Café is a new series of works documenting a dark corner of modern life. A commentary on how individuals are perceiving their identity through digital mediums and the disaster of modern comforts creating social inversion.
This is a focused trend, modernity at its finest - quite exotic if you think about it, invisible individual perception maintenance down at the café. It's a drag and drop lifestyle with candy like results - branded humanity, we are the living logos of today, heavily curated in digital formats, spouting safe, declarative statements accompanied by trivial moments of luxury - all of this - to elevate our stats, building our virtual legacy one day at a time.
Dwindling curiosity and hacked relationships fall mercy to shallow, foot in the door actions. Today we do not seek relationships as we did in the past - why? because it is eaiser to recluse to a device to sum up one's lifestyle in just seconds, perhaps a minute if you are lucky, thus creating mini-moments of diluted, second tier, sub-real experiences. A global community of fractioned attention spans, surely an over obsessive, unhealthy habit at the expense of reality.
Getting used to paying corporations to maintain our relationships thru a variety of digital mediums must be the irony we need to see though. I believe the power of an independent mind will far trump a quick answer.
